Getting Closer!

I can’t believe it, but there’s only one month left until we fly out from Boston! Our plans are starting to come together nicely. As previously mentioned, all of our lodging is booked so we’ve lately been focusing on activities. Our current itinerary involves:

  • Iceland:
    • Reykjavik (2 nights)
      • Golden Circle Excursion via Iceland Horizon (includes Gulfoss, Þingvellir, and Faxafoss)
  • Germany:
    • Munich (4 nights)
      • Most likely going to make a day trip to see the Neuschwanstein Castle
      • Flagged the page in my guide book mapping the 10 best beer gardens
      • The Impark Summer Festival and Theatron Musiksommer will both be going on while we’re in town, so we might visit the festivities happening at Olympiapark
    • Augsburg (3 nights)
      • Sean’s uncle purchased tickets for us to a soccer game at the SGL Arena: FC Augsburg vs VfB Stuttgart
      • Staying with Sean’s family – including ones flying down from Cologne to visit with us
      • As a musician, I feel obligated (read: excited) to visit the Mozart-Haus
  • Back in Iceland:
    • Stykkishólmur (2 nights)
      • Rented a car so that we can drive to/from the airport and have more flexibility in making some stops along the way, such as Glymur and Búðir
      • Currently mapping out our route to visit the Fjords – we’ll either be driving there and back or taking a ferry one way

Otherwise our days will be spent wandering the cities, visiting museums, taking 100s of pictures, etc. So between now and Aug 17 we’ll be reading up on the blogs, web sites, and guidebooks for ideas and must-see landmarks. We wanted to make sure we booked the Iceland excursion and car rental, but I don’t want to schedule out too much because it is also a time to relax and enjoy the scenery.

I’m. So. Excited.
